Happy Plog Day! A very full week indeed, let’s see what these Tellwellians got into! 🎉 🍀

This week’s writer

Hey readers, it’s Kari! I’m the video content specialist here at Tellwell and I have the pleasure of writing this week’s plog. As part of the film team, I conduct interviews, direct talent, write storylines, and so much more! Let’s get into it!

Time to design 🎨

Let’s take a look at some recent design team wins!

Recently, the design team had a few brand expansions, creating a system with additional textures, colors, fonts – you name it, they did it! First up, let’s highlight InterBel – one of our Montana-based Story Makers. We brought in several new elements, including textured mountain scapes, new website icons, and an array of colors and text styles.

A brand style guide for "InterBel" featuring a navy blue and yellow logo with a swoosh. It displays a primary color palette (Navy, Orange, Yellow, Light Blue), button callout styles, and typography specs for Archivo and Knockout fonts.
A sheet of InterBel graphic elements showing four halftone mountain range illustrations in different brand colors. It also includes a set of line icons for telecommunications and "frame styles" showing how images and headlines should be paired.

Another recent brand expansion was for Enlightened Beauty – a beauty salon & spa that prioritizes inclusivity and creating a safe space for all in our community. Leaning into the colorful side of their business, we were able to bring in those colors throughout their branding, creating fun icons, eye-catching gradients, and bringing a cohesiveness to their brand as a whole. Being able to work and experiment with colors, shapes, and textures is always a fun way to brighten up a brand!

A brand identity sheet for "Enlightened Beauty" featuring a purple and gold lotus logo. It includes a primary color palette (Purple, Mauve, Gold), secondary colors, and typography samples for Oswald, Timeless, and Limon Script fonts.
A layout of graphic elements including "Spa Sections" and "Salon Sections" callout boxes. It features a purple-to-orange gradient theme, a stylized leaf icon, and a "Title Things" text block over a patterned orange background.
A comprehensive set of 24 flat-design icons for a spa and salon, including symbols for hot stones, candles, hair dryers, and tea. The icons are shown in both a multi-color gradient and a white knockout version on a dark purple background.

And the Oscar goes to . . . 🏆

Another year, another Oscar ballot winner! The competition was close with the top three participants all within 2 points of each other, but there can only be one winner. This year, Senior Design Strategist Sandie came away with the win! With 21 out of 24 selections correct, she won big – taking home the traveling Oscar award and a brand new Oscar award winning KPop Demon Hunter notebook. Congrats Sandie!

An unbirthday celebration 🎊

We also celebrated Project Manager Megan’s birthday this week! Even though she was out of office for her official birthday, we made sure she was still celebrated in the office. We shared chocolate chunk cookies and gathered around the kitchen island for some quality time! We appreciate all you do for us, happy happy birthday Megan!

Making films & watching them too 🎥

The film team had a healthy mix of creating films and watching them, too!

Midweek, we headed back over to Minnesota State Moorhead for another exciting video project. We talked with several students and faculty about an exciting opportunity that’s coming this fall. We bounced around campus to showcase different locations and we were blessed with a beautiful day to do so!

We also had our Q1 Ed-Venture (Education Adventure) where we attended the Fargo Film Festival! We watched the short documentary portion of the festival, seeing five unique documentaries. After we finished, we grabbed dinner and had deeper conversations about each. This also gave us time to analyze our own work and how we saw similarities, differences, and even things we want to try!

After dinner, we went back to the theater to watch the feature documentary for the evening: The Librarians by Kim A. Snyder. This was an eye-opening film and a great watch. This showing was followed by a Q&A with the director which gave additional insight into the process of creating the film and additional ways to support the cause!

That wraps up this week! Keep an eye out for our next plog, coming March 27th!
