We’ve been saying this for years: your website is the hub of information about your business. Blogs are makes it awesome (searchable, fresh/updated, etc.).Yet, Facebook is where a lot of engagement happens with customers. And ultimately wants you to stay on Facebook. So, they’re doing something about that.

Remember Facebook Notes? You probably haven’t posted one since 2008, but they’re still hanging around. Facebook is giving Notes a facelift. It looks more like a blogging platform – somewhat resembling Medium. It’s not rolled out to everyone yet, and no news if it will be released to brands any time soon, but we’re interested to see how it could influence how people interact with Facebook. Maybe we’ll get our attention spans back.

Speaking of… attention spans, this is the longest article Marge read without a break to visit another website. Two good points: 1. one in three small business owners don’t see the value in social media for their business. 2. 57% of people say they would think more highly of a business who has a positive review on social. Isn’t data the best?
We say: some reviews are paid for by businesses (and can’t be trusted). But if you have authentic content on social and respond to your customers, people will like you. Our social media response tool might help.
WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU’VE BEEN IN TARGET FOR 5 HOURS…
What did I come here for again? If you haven’t internetted this week, here’s the skinny: Target is getting rid of gender-specific signs in the toy aisles. People are freaking out on their Facebook page thinking they’re getting rid of Barbies and Iron Man (they’re not). Some dude (not affiliated with Target) decided to jump into the community manager role. Some might say he said what we are all thinking. The best part? Target’s response.
THE JIST
- We should all be a little more like Gretchen Weiners. Sure, she didn’t get fetch to catch on, but at least she was original. Don’t be a copycat when it comes to marketing.
- Stop lollygagging. Be productive with all the extra time you have lying around (we’re kidding). We know you have 5 minutes, though. Use it wisely.
- Weak Insta game? Stop it. Here’s how to get better and make a few sales.
- That’s phat. Other things people don’t say anymore: LOL. If your brand isn’t afraid of its silly side, opt for “haha” instead.
