2020 has changed, perhaps forever, the face and feel of customer connection and employee engagement for businesses across the globe. The task laid before us with Thrivent was to shift their annual kickoff event to an online platform without losing the energy and impact that the celebration usually provides their employees.

The Process
We wanted to create a live event that embodied the authenticity of the stories we had the privilege of capturing during the process. Any ideation session with the Thrivent crew is a treat for us and we thoroughly enjoyed brainstorming the path and perspectives that we wanted to focus our storytelling on. We fixed our sights on four films showcasing the varied landscapes of Financial Professionals across the Northland region.
With a solid focus on Thrivent’s family-driven culture, we partnered with Livewire to produce an hour-long livestream to celebrate the year’s accomplishments.
Heightened safety measures and caution from all parties provided its own set of challenges both in scheduling and during filming. Between coordinating Zoom calls, setting up all aspects of an entirely virtual event, and filming in several different environments (with varying degrees of COVID sensitivities and precautions to work within), it was no small feat to pull everything together.
Success
The authenticity of the featured stories was definitely the highlight of the event for us. Thrivent employees love the work that they do in providing for their customers, and the people that we met were energized and excited to share their experiences with us.
The live event was another high point in the process. Around 400 Thrivent employees joined the Zoom call. That has to be a record somewhere, right? It was a fun night for us; the Tellwell and Livewire teams poured their energy into making it a fun night for all.
