Mornings are for Coffee and CREATIVITY!
Our community is the freakin’ best. Need proof? Just check out one of Creative Mornings Fargo’s monthly speaker events. On the last Friday of every month, students and professionals from across every industry gather to drink coffee and get inspired.
The speaker for this month’s event, themed “Roots,” was Dieumerci Christel. Dieumerci (or Chris, for short) is a student at NDSU, aspiring serial entrepreneur, and creator of the Enlight app, which helps teachers become “experts on their students” by collecting information about their learning preferences, interests, passions, and motivations.
Chris spoke about growing up in refugee camps, struggling in school, discovering a passion for social impact entrepreneurship, and meeting some incredible mentors along the way (with casual name-drops like Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States, and Guy Raz, host of NPR’s “How I Built This” podcast).
Our team walked away VERY caffeinated and VERY ready to take on the day. Here are some of our key takeaways:
- Entrepreneurship requires empathetic creativity–you must always be creating to solve a problem for someone else.
- Don’t try to be the most interesting person in the room–stay curious and try to learn something from every person you meet.
- As young folks, we need to stick around and build Fargo into the community that we want to live in.
Thank you Chris, Creative Mornings, Thunder Coffee, and Drekker Brewing Company for such an ENLIGHTening morning!
Giving Hearts Day Round Up!
IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! Giving Hearts Day is just two weeks away! We have had the opportunity to work with some truly incredible organizations this year: YWCA Cass Clay, CCRI, Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre, BIO Girls, and FirstLink.
These organizations have powerful stories to tell, and several of them launched their Giving Hearts Day videos this week! Take a look, make note of your favorite organizations, and remember to give on February 13!
Did Someone Say Taco Tuesday?
This week, we instated the most Tellwell-y tradition to ever Tellwell: family meals! Since we have a fancy schmancy kitchen in our new space, we will prepare and enjoy lunch together every Tuesday and breakfast every Friday.
P.S. Guests are always welcome. ?
I Got a Puzzle, Hey Hey Hey Hey!
Katie has gotten really, really into jigsaw puzzles as of late. She’s allowed them to take over her dining table, devoted an Instagram highlight to them, and quite frankly, won’t shut up about them. SO, Jayme came up with the fantastic idea to turn one of our enused pods into the Puzzle Pod!
When we (mostly Katie) need a brain break, we can hop on over and put a few pieces together. You know, for productivity reasons and stuff.
Thank you for checking in with us!
