SAY WHAT?!
WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOUR BFF BRINGS UP THE WINDSUIT YOU WORE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
#TBT. Something that’s actually making a comeback might surprise you. Flip phone sales have increased in Asia since 2007. Yes. You read that perfectly. LG brought back the flip phone. Their reason? Smartphones are too big to fit in your pocket. No news on if/when it’s coming to the U.S.
WHAT TO SAY ON PAYDAY…
Treat yo’ self. Katy Perry is trying a new social strategy. She recently launched a new perfume exclusively on Twitter. You can purchase the scent through links in her tweets. She also launched @katyperrypopup and #MadPotion just to promote it. If this is as successful as we think it might be, expect to see more social sales from celebrities and brands in the future.
WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR CO-WORKER’S ANTICS…
“That’s my stapler.” – @OfficeSpace.Twitter is enforcing copyright regulations so people (and brands) can’t steal tweets. If you see something a writer, comedian, or someone else tweeted, and then rewrite as your own – that’s stealing. Make sure you and your organization give proper credit when needed. Our advice? Write your content or legally hire a writer.
Stealing direct tweets from someone is one thing, but can you spot the difference between these brands’ posts? #Twinsies.

WHAT MARGOT’S BROTHER CAN’T STOP TALKING ABOUT…
Beme (pronounced meme with a B). We all have that one person in our lives who wants to be a super-early adopter. We’re talking alpha and beta phase adopters. Margot’s brother is that person and can’t stop talking about Beme. It’s similar to Snapchat, but the reason it was created was to make connections between users and the world instead of users and their phones.
#ICYMI
- We’re keeping our eye on Forbes. They shared some stats about how people consume less news on their phones. They want to change that, and they’re targeting the under 30 crowd.
- What not to do: Retail store, Madewell, has a tricky unsubscribe form for their email. People think they unsubscribed – but they didn’t. Sneaky checkbox. Learn from this and make sure it’s easy for your subscribers to leave without a bitter breakup.
TRENDING
- New York Magazine featured 35 women who have accused Bill Cosby of rape. There is an empty chair that represents sexual assault victims who are unable to come forward. #TheEmptyChair trended. As one put person put it, “So many of us could be or are that person.”
- A happier note, body positivity is also trending. #ThighReading (a take on palm reading) was born when someone posted a “don’t care” photo of the stretch marks on her thighs. People from all over are posting their thighs with scars, birthmarks, cellulite and stretch marks to show not everyone is perfect – and that’s ok.
